Johnny Childress is the youngest of six siblings in a blended family, where his brothers and sisters helped shape his love for music and introduced him to hip-hop at an early age. He wrote his first rap at age nine and began his journey as an MC—writing, recording, and performing—as a sophomore in high school. Through his experiences with hip-hop, Johnny discovered the therapeutic power of creative expression and the impact that writing can have on mental health and personal growth. Passionate about using music as a tool for healing and connection, he joined The Preservatory, where he serves on the Board of Directors and supports its mission of promoting suicide awareness and prevention through hip-hop culture and the arts.
